Community Development is a transformative, missional process that enables a community to resolve its own challenges. This training will help distinguish between help that addresses needs (creating dependency) and the benefits of empowering assets (producing self-sufficiency).
Do we hurt or help empower a church and community when we:
Give food baskets to a few select families only at Thanksgiving?
Paint buildings and homes for people? Have you ever wondered why a “free” house is in disrepair?
Participate in medical missions trips giving away free services and medicines?
Learn how to be more effective in your outreach overseas and in the US through community development. This dynamic process will provide the community with skills to solve its own identified problems and self-sustainability managed completely by the community. This process will result in evangelistic opportunities.
