Missions Across South Carolina

What does it look like when South Carolina Baptists come together to advance the Gospel across our state?

· 30,323 college students engaged through BCM

· 49 church plants funded across the state

· 323 pastors participating in leadership cohorts

· 7,385 campers sensing a call to ministry

· 38,699 volunteers serving with Disaster Relief

These are just a few of the ways South Carolina Baptists are invited to participate in Gospel work through the Janie Chapman Offering. The offering provides a tangible way for individuals and churches to pray for, participate in, and financially support missions and ministry happening throughout South Carolina and around the world.

What is the Janie Chapman Offering?

The Janie Chapman Offering is the annual state missions offering of South Carolina Baptists. Gifts support ministries and mission efforts that share the Gospel, strengthen churches, serve communities, and advance God's Kingdom throughout South Carolina and beyond.

The offering is named in honor of Janie Chapman, who served as the first president of South Carolina Woman’s Missionary Union beginning in 1902. Chapman was known for her passion for missions, prayer, and faithful service. In 1937, South Carolina Baptists named the state missions offering in her honor.

How is the Offering Used?

One of the most exciting things about the Janie Chapman Offering is seeing how God uses financial gifts to meet needs and create opportunities for Gospel ministry across the state.

Funds from the offering support South Carolina Baptist ministries, associations, churches, and the South Carolina WMU.

The Janie Chapman Offering supports church planting, missionary development, discipleship, collegiate ministry, community outreach, disaster response, leadership development, and other efforts designed to help people encounter the transforming hope of the Gospel.

How Can We Pray for Missions in South Carolina?

The Janie Chapman Offering is an opportunity to do more than just give financially. It invites South Carolina Baptists to become informed and engaged through prayer.

Every September, a week is dedicated to praying for missions across the state. South Carolina WMU provides a prayer guide and other resources to help churches highlight what God is doing across the state.
