Introducing: Life on Mission

The mission of Woman’s Missionary Union is to make disciples of Jesus who live on mission. At South Carolina WMU, our role is to equip and empower South Carolina Baptist churches and believers to actively participate in fulfilling the Great Commission. We believe living on mission is not reserved for a select few, but is the calling of every follower of Christ—wherever God has placed them.

South Carolina Baptists have a long and faithful history of serving their communities and sharing the hope of the gospel—both at home and around the world. Across our state, churches, associations, and ministries are meeting real needs, building relationships, and pointing their neighbors to Christ through acts of compassion, service, and gospel proclamation. Our desire is to see every South Carolina Baptist church and every believer engaged in this gospel work, faithfully living out their calling to love God and love others.

We’re excited to introduce Life on Mission, a blog designed to encourage, equip, and provide practical resources for living on mission. This space is for individuals, families, churches, and leaders who desire to grow in missional living—whether that means serving in your local community, supporting statewide ministries, or engaging in global missions.

In the coming year, we’ll be highlighting ways South Carolina Baptists can engage in the work God is already accomplishing—locally, statewide, and globally. Each month, we’ll feature ministries and opportunities that invite you to live on mission through prayer, giving, serving, and going. Our hope is that these stories and resources will inspire you to take your next step of obedience.

We invite you to prayerfully consider how God may be calling you to make an impact for His kingdom. As you seek His direction, use the prayer prompts below to guide your time with the Lord:

  • Ask God to give you a listening heart that is sensitive to His voice and leading.

    • Pray, “Lord, where are You inviting me to join You in Your work?”

  • Ask God to give you a willing spirit to go wherever He leads.

    • Pray, “Lord, here I am, send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

  • Ask God to prepare divine appointments and meaningful gospel conversations (Col. 4:3-4)

  • Pray for boldness to share Christ with love and truth (Acts 4:29).

  • Ask God to strengthen churches and ministries working to advance the gospel.

  • Ask God to raise up workers for the harvest (Matthew 9:37–38).

  • Pray for joy in serving and delight in obedience.

  • Ask God to renew your passion for His glory and the good of others.

Stay tuned for our next post, where we’ll highlight our first featured ministry: Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries.
