Each year, outstanding youth are chosen from Acteens and Youth on Mission organizations to be South Carolina WMU Youth Advisory Panelists. These students help plan Acteens/Youth on Mission events and preside at these events, as well as speaking to Acteens/Youth on Mission groups across the state. These youth are outstanding leaders in their Acteens/Youth on Mission organizations, are recommended by their church Acteens or Youth on Mission Leader, and exemplify a missions lifestyle, reflect high Christian standards and spiritual maturity, are dependable, and have positive relationships with others.
South Carolina WMU Staff are happy to introduce three Youth Advisory Panelists for 2009-2010. Hannah Legendre, a high school senior; and Elizabeth Legendre, a junior, are sisters from Hemingway, SC. Both are active members of the Youth on Mission organization of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The third, Abigail Hastings, is a freshman from Williamston, SC, and an active Acteen at Friendship Baptist Church.
Interestingly, all three panelists are Preacher Kids and are actively involved in mission action opportunities through their churches. All three received high marks from their references as highly motivated, involved, servant leaders with hearts for missions.
These panelists participated in the Acteens/Youth on Missions Event on October 24th, 2009 at Charleston Southern University. They will also help plan and prepare for the Carolina Girls event for Acteens in 2010.
